    My research focuses on numerical methods and analysis for hyperbolic partial differential equations for conservation laws and their implementation on high-performance computing supercomputers.   • Dr. Minh Tran Tuan
    Tran Tuan Minh holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics from CanTho University, Vietnam (2008); a Master of Science in Computational Engineering from Vietnamese German University, Vietnam and Ruhr Univesity Bochum, Germany (2011); and a Doctor of Engineering in Material Mechanics from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (2019).

    He has diverse experience working with students nationally and internationally throughout teaching the Bachelor and Master level course in Statics, Continuum Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, and Dynamics, and supervising students in topics of mechanical modelling and simulations.
    Field expertise:
    Minh's research interest surrounds deeply investigating material model, which simulates and explains the underlying mechanism of crystalline structure behaviour of metals undergoing various mechanical tests: tensile, torsion, bending, or indentation. Recently, He is developing a new research direction in metamaterials; structural design using robust topology optimization algorithms.

    Working as Chemical Engineer at Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), PetroVietnam. Holding several Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions at the University of Queensland, Australia; the University of Oklahoma, USA; National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore.
    The main research focuses on

    1. Molecular modeling and simulation (density functional theory, Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics methods) of nanoporous materials, equilibrium and dynamics of adsorption and separation processes, and nanoparticle based drug delivery systems.

    2. Synthesis of lightweight materials (cellulose aerogels and aerogel composites etc).

    3.Geochemical evaluation of source rocks and source rock-oil correlations for petroleum exploration and production. Identity of oil-spill source.
    Field expertise:
    1. Petroleum geochemistry

    Application of biomarker fingerprint for oil-oil and oil-source rock correlations; Wax and asphaltene-deposition problems.

    2. Molecular sieving separation

    The use and/or modification of commercial micro- and meso- porous adsorbents (zeolites, activated carbons etc.) to separate diamondoids and biomarkers for compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA).

    3. Molecular Modeling and simulations

    Application of density functional theory, Monte Carlo, and molecular dynamics simulations to model microstructure of nanomaterials for predicting properties and behaviors of the materials in engineering systems and processes; heat transfer modelling of ligand-capped metallic nanoparticles to cellular environments to maximize photothermal enhancement of chemotherapy in cancer treatment.
